Starnaminggifts.co.uk is an established independent and unique Star Naming Registry that has years of experience in providing customers with an opportunity to “Name a Star” and then record it in the “Universal Star and Global Naming Database” where it will remain for the rest of eternity.
Can I name a Star?
Yes of course, you can. It’s a really simple process. We have set out the steps below to help you
Step 1
Choose from the different Gift packages that we currently offer in our Shop (A Standard Star, An Extra Bright Star or Binary Star) and alongside each one you will see the features that come with that Gift Package. Also check our other gifts whilst you are there such as owning an Acre of Land on the Moon or Mars
Step 2
When you have decided on the items you want to purchase simply head over to the checkout and we will ask you to enter your selected name for each personalised gift you have chosen.
Step 3
Proceed to entering your personal details including Name, Address and email address, so that we can notify you of the status of your order. If this is your delivery address for the Gift Portfolio, then proceed to make your payment. We accept PayPal, as well as normal credit and debit cards.
Step 4
Leave it to us to produce your Gift Portfolio, and you will shortly receive your order in the post via tracked courier
What Star Name can I choose?
You can choose any name that you want *. and many of our existing customers select nicknames, pet-names, or affectionate names that meant something to just them!
If you like you can also include numbers/dates/letters in any combination

- *exceptions to this are any names that could be deemed as offensive or inappropriate.
Is there character Limits for my Star Name?
- Your chosen name must be a maximum of 40 characters in length (including spaces). This is to ensure a perfect fit when it goes onto your personalised Star Deed.
Who produces our Gift Portfolios?
- We have an expert team of Registrars based here in the U.K. who are responsible for producing, documenting, checking and then dispatching your chosen gift portfolio.
How Long will it take for me to receive my purchase?
- Our Registrars aim to typically produce your Gift Portfolio in around 3 working days (dependant on demand) from the date when your order is placed. We aim to transfer any completed portfolios the same day to our network of parcel couriers. Most of them guarantee delivery within 48 hours. (again, this does depend on demand and time of year)
How much do you charge for delivery?
- We charge a flat £2.99 price as our parcels are a standard size, and this provides for a tracked courier service from us to you securely and signed for.
How long will my Star Name Last?
- Your chosen Name will remain forever. We never allow alterations or amendments and guarantee that our stars are never named twice.
Where my Star Name Registered?
- All of our Star Names are recorded into the “Universal Star and Global Naming Database” The Database contains a master file of stars that are identified by Astronomers on Earth. Our Registrars go to work on your behalf identifying a Star that is available to be given a name. Once chosen and documented, it becomes official and that Star now has a new name.
Is this an official Star Naming Registry?
- Yes – we are an official Star Naming Registry and we have an independent status that allows us trade here in the UK from a few of our exclusive brands as well as internationally as and when we decide to do so.
Will I own the star that I have Named?
- All Stars are classified as celestial bodies and as such they have been designated the property of all humankind. This was affirmed at a United Nations Senate meeting of world leaders who produced a text to agree the ownership of all celestial bodies. This treaty was ratified in 1967 and became international law.
…However, it has been accepted that individuals are allowed to symbolically name or claim any celestial body for their own purposes as long as this is done in a manor that is not offensive to others and is known to revert back to the text within the treaty if required.
Can I see my Star?
All of the Stars that are in the database are visible from Earth at various times throughout the year. As our Stars selected from the Registry, we currently do not provide specific viewing information as this always is dependent on your own location/the location of the star in the sky. Almost all stars can be seen with the naked eye. We are however exploring some options to assist our customers in viewing their star that we hope to be able to update you on in 2021.
Are you affiliated with Organisations such as NASA/ESA/IAU?
We are an independent Star Registry that is not affiliated the listed agencies/organisations and we are not working for or on behalf of any government or agencies that they may use in relation to space exploration or travel
Moon Acre / Mars Acre Gifts
Will I own the Acre of land on the Moon or Mars?
No, similar to Star Naming - the Acre Gifts are a novelty item given with sentiment and meaning. However all celestial bodies including the Moon and the planets are deemed to belong to all humankind and therefore it is impossible to own land in space.
